Week 13- Couple Inquiry/climate change

In lab this week, we discussed the couple inquiry article.  Climate vs Weather: Meteorologists often point out that- "Climate is what you expect. Weather is what you get." or as one middle student put it: "Climate helps you decide what clothes to buy, weather helps you decide what clothes to wear". or: weather is your mood, and climate is your personality.

How do we know that the Goldfinch is in danger in Iowa? - Increase in precipitation (all of the sections)

-Increase in temperature. -It can disrupt their habitat.

Before the flood contributes to climate change: methane being produced in one way could be from cows. Humans are burning down the forests in Indonesia. Deforestation.

Big takeaways from 5 articles:

1-  We Must Act Quickly: 45 million are suffering from drought in South and East Africa. We are running out of time.

2- Iowa Scientists: above 90 degree increase from 23 to 67 by 2050 (hot days). Solar panels, wind forms are not happening fast enough.

3- Extreme heat: extreme heat will effect livestock: can be more suspectible to disease. The summer heat is more dangerous than winter cold.

4- Iowa scientists warn about extreme heat: Researchers predict that by 2050, Iowa's 90 degree days will nearly triple.

5- Radio: 216 educators warned about extreme heat/temps. They predict that in 20 years days of 90 degree will double unless greenhouse emissions are reduced.
