This week in lab, we worked on determining how the weight of a rider affects the time it takes to go back and forth. We set this up by using a dowel rod clamped onto the side of a table with a string hanging off it with with coins at the end of the rope. After each trial we would add another coin to make it heavier. We would time each trial with two stop watches to gain a more accurate time. We did 5 different tests with the time being measured in seconds. During out experiment, we thought we were doing things incorrectly as the time was not being affected in the way we had thought it would. Our hypothesis stated that the more weight on a swing, the slower it is to come back and forth. But by the end of the experiment, we concluded that weight does not matter in this experiment.
