Blog- Week 3

What did you learn in class this week?
- In this weeks class, I learned the process of life cycles. My partner and I decided to do the stages of a sunflower. We also learned about many other different animal cycles, like a butterfly. We watched the butterfly go into the different stages of its life. We also learned about plants and get to grow our own fast seeds!

Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?
- This reminded me of science class at a younger age where we not only discussed the life cycle, but also got to experience having caterpillars turn into butterflies and letting them out in the spring. We also get to redo this in our lab sections as well!

How can you apply what you've learned to your teaching in the future?
- So far, I have enjoyed doing these labs. I enjoy the short discussions and then being able to put it into hands on learning. I enjoy doing the hands on learning because it makes learning fun and allows each of us to become creative. I will use the play doh life cycle activity with my future science class because it is a great activity for any age!

  1. Hi Annette! I also remember my class having a caterpillar that we watched grow into a butterfly and how fun it was because it was a real life example that we got to witness every day. It was cool to see it happening right in front of our eyes!

  2. Hello! I really like your life cycle diagram! It is very cute and accurate. I also agree that hands on leaning works best after a discussion, and I will most likely implement that in my future classroom.

  3. Annette, I loved you group's life cycle diagram. For being made from playdough, you can very easily see the stages and transformation. I am also excited to watch the caterpillars throughout this semester.
