Blog Week 2

 

This week in science methods, we learned about the 8 characteristics of living things. We worked in groups to help create an anchor chart to discuss these characteristics to better our understanding on them. We also talked more about the NGSS website and how to navigate through it. 

Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?

I was able to relate what I learned in class to my prior science classes in elementary school. I remembered learning about these terms at a younger age, but could not remember the meaning behind all of them. Going through each one again and making an anchor chart with classmates helped refresh my memory on the definition behind these terms. Another thing that reminded me of my elementary years was doing the seed project because we had to 

How can you apply what you've learned to your teaching in the future?

In my future classes, I will apply the anchor chart method. It is a great way to incorporate both hands on and visual learning. I will also make sure to use the NGSS standards to make sure students are truly learning. I can teach these in a variety of different ways.
